RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS

The ultimate purpose of our residential treatment programs is to enable an individual to achieve permanent recovery. The willingness of our clients to commit to the hard work it takes to achieve a permanent recovery from substance abuse is vital for any treatment program to be successful.

The immediate goals of a treatment program are to reduce substance abuse, improve the client's ability to function, and minimize the medical, psychological and social complications of substance abuse and addiction. While at times the residential program can be overwhelming, the education received at Watershed prepares our clients for the many tests and challenges that they will face upon completion of the program.

This is what sets Watershed apart. We focus on the client and preparing them for the challenges they will face upon completion of our residential treatment program.

WITHDRAWAL MANAGEMENT (Detox)

For many of our clients, part of the recovery process includes detoxification. Because each person experiences detox differently, we pay close attention to our client's individual needs in order to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. Watershed assesses each client based on medical history, drug of choice, length of use and mental status in order to determine the most appropriate care.

Detox helps recovering addicts get free of the physiological dependencies that underlie substance abuse, thus preparing them to face the emotional and psychological rigors of the treatment process.

Detox at Watershed succeeds because we’re good at it, and because we care about it. Our programs employ a unique range of medical therapies, all of them evidence based & tailored to particular forms of addiction.

A detox program can only succeed to the extent that it helps the body recover from the physical dependencies associated with addiction in a safe, supportive environment. Drug addiction works by warping the metabolism so that drugs are needed to sustain normal daily functioning.

Detoxification works by weaning the body off of drugs and drug chemicals, thus allowing for the restoration of normal metabolic function. At Watershed, our detoxification programs aim to make detox as fast and gentle as possible, so as to better prepare addicts to face the challenges that lie ahead.

The Watershed Withdrawal Management program can last seven to fourteen days, depending on what drug from which the client is detoxing and includes a social and medical assessment, an early intervention plan, an individually suited withdrawal regime (medicated and non-medicated as required by the client) as well as a supportive individual and group counselling.

Clients are supported though their detox stage and provided with 24 hour care.

It’s important to note that detox is the beginning of the drug rehab process, not the end. As important as the detox program is to long-term recovery, the time spent in detox is at best a precursor to everything that follows it. To that end, Watershed aims to integrate detox as intimately as possible into our drug rehabilitation programs, thus allowing our clients to build on the momentum gained from the detox experiences in pursuing more comprehensive addiction treatment.

Addiction recovery never comes easy. But make no mistake, the effort is worth it. Treatment at Watershed turns lives around. To recover, after all, is for the client to rediscover the world as they used to know it, and themselves as they used to be. To recover is to remember why they ever believed life to be worth living in the first place. It starts with detox. And, more importantly, it starts with the client themselves.

Detoxification Criteria
Our service provides Detoxification from:

REHABILITATION

Our four week residential rehabilitation program (which includes Case Management and a treatment/early intervention plan) has been developed by experts to counter the effects of long-term substance abuse and to give our clients the best chance to beat addiction.

Watershed provides 24 hour support and supervision for our clients who must have completed a detox (either at Watershed or another facility) before entering the rehabilitation program.

Individual attention is critical, so every client is assigned to a primary caseworker on admission, ensuring that he or she receives valuable one-on-one time and that treatment is constantly monitored and adjusted as required to meet his or her unique needs.

Our rehab program works, but the success or failure of the program is ultimately up to the client. Anyone who tries to say otherwise has badly missed the point.

Clients must be willing to be fully engaged with their own healing and have the courage to make it happen. Yes, staff can give all the support needed on the road to recovery, but if Watershed is going to help the client get where they need to go, it is going to be because they have the strength to see their treatment experience through to its conclusion.

Rehab at Watershed is founded on two principles: expertise and empathy. We are very good at what we do and we are committed to the individual client above all else.

Group Therapy
Group therapy has proven to be a very effective and essential element of any rehab program. Peer influence is used at Watershed, in a variety of processes, to help clients learn and apply social norms and to develop more effective, healthier, social skills in real life situations.

When it comes to drug rehabilitation, nothing can be more effective than peer influence.

Individual Therapy
Individual Therapy is a more personal one-on-one therapy between a client and the staff at Watershed. This is a key element of what sets Watershed above other drug rehabilitation centers, because there is no cookie cutter approach to the rehabilitation program offered.

Since no two people are alike, they shouldn't be treated that way. This is why Watershed puts a priority into offering personalized drug rehabilitation based on an individual’s unique needs. Individual therapy is just one of the things that allows Watershed to asses and identify the varying factors of a client's needs, and to create their own personalized rehabilitation program.
